Uncovering colonial Queensland's military heritage
Welcome to Colonial Forces Study Group (Queensland)
Our purpose is to locate, collate and analyse historical records relating to the naval and military forces of colonial Queensland, from 1860 to the establishment of the Commonwealth Military Forces in 1901, and to make our findings publicly accessible.

A detailed look at our colourful past
There is no single archival record series dealing with all facets of Queensland's colonial forces. As a consequence, the story is laced together from many sources. Records as varied as annual defence reports, gazetted orders and personnel movements, correspondence records of government departments, newspaper accounts, images and plans have been assembled for the task. Members and volunteers have located images, compiled indexes and produced papers to ensure this material is accessible through our website, Facebook page, and publications.
